In our “Clemson Football Recruiting: What’s Left for 2016” article published about a week ago, we said that it would be nice for the Tigers to pick up a linebacker, a defensive back, and an offensive lineman. The Tigers already have three commitments on the offensive line, but none of them are as a game-ready as four-star John Simpson. Simpson is an extremely talented offensive guard out of Fort Dorchester in North Charleston.

John Simpson has pretty much narrowed down his school choices to Clemson and South Carolina and the Tigers are said to be his favorite, but the Gamecocks have made a late run. He also has shown interest in Florida and LSU, as well.
Simpson is scheduled to announce his decision on January 9 at the United States Army All-American game. He is extremely talented and is very strong.
He is a guy that could see the field as a freshman and could factor into Clemson’s depth chart in 2016. I think Clemson has an edge, but it’s certain that his decision is not for certain and he could swing any way heading into the final stretch before his decision.
