After a jaw-dropping late-spring recruiting blitz, with the Tigers reeling in over a dozen commitments since late May—including a wild seven pledges in just three days—Clemson has shaken up the national scene. ESPN’s latest 2027 team recruiting rankings, dropped Thursday, June 4, 2026, show the Tigers rocketing from off the board to No. 6 in the entire country.
With 22 verbal commits locked in, Clemson is sitting on one of the deepest and most balanced classes we’ve seen in the Dabo era, loaded with eight ESPN Top 300 prospects.

ESPN’s new numbers spotlight the cornerstones fueling Clemson’s meteoric rise up the rankings:
- The Franchise QB: Four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley is the crown jewel of this class, checking in at No. 124 nationally and the No. 5 dual-threat QB in America.
- The Twin Towers on the Edge: Hot on Hughley’s heels is new four-star commit Desmond Malpress, the No. 125 player in the country. ESPN is buzzing about Malpress’s freakish athleticism and verified 4.59 speed at 6-foot-4.
- The Track Stars: Clemson’s skill guys are bringing real track speed. Running back Gary Walker can hit 21 mph in the open field, and wideout Trey Wimbley has a verified 4.47 forty to keep safeties honest. Add in Jamarin Simmons, a possession receiver with lightning-quick feet, and you’ve got a nightmare for opposing defenses.
