Clemson is absolutely scorching the recruiting trail right now, and the rest of college football better pay attention—the Tigers are making it clear that the road to the top runs through Death Valley.

Dabo Swinney and his staff just wrapped up a recruiting week for the ages, and the cherry on top came Wednesday afternoon when electric four-star wideout Jamarin Simmons picked Clemson. Simmons could have gone anywhere—Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee—but he chose to call Tigertown home.

Simmons is now the sixth four-star (or better) recruit in Clemson’s red-hot 2027 class, and his commitment is another sign that the Tigers are back to stacking up the nation’s best offensive firepower.

Welcome to the "Waffle House" Era

Don’t let the 5-foot-11, 163-pound frame fool you—Jamarin Simmons comes to Clemson with one of the best nicknames in the game: “Waffle House.” Why? Because he’s always open. Simmons brings the kind of breakaway speed and balance that leaves defenders spinning, and Rivals has him pegged as the No. 19 receiver in America.

This is another big-time win for Tyler Grisham, who’s been on a recruiting tear at Wide Receiver U. Just look at the names he’s brought in: Bryant Wesco Jr., T.J. Moore, and a trio of freshmen—Gordon Sellars III, Naeem Burroughs, and Connor Salmin—who already made noise this spring.

With Simmons joining fellow four-star Trey Wimbley, Clemson’s 2027 class is starting to look downright unfair on the outside.

A Historic Mid-Week Double-Dip

Simmons’ commitment was the exclamation point on a Wednesday to remember for new OC Chad Morris. Earlier in the day, Morris and the Tigers landed four-star running back Gary Walker—a top-10 back in the country who brings championship pedigree to an already stacked Clemson backfield.

When you factor in Monday’s defensive heist of four-star safety Jarrell Chandler, the Tigers have put together an unmatched multi-day run. Before the week began, Clemson was sitting just outside the top 20 in the national team composite rankings. Now, the Tigers have vaulted all the way to No. 14 in the country and sit comfortably at No. 2 in the ACC according to On3.

The Heater is Far From Over

With 10 commitments already locked in for 2027, Swinney has this program on a heater, and it feels like the fireworks are just getting started.

Wednesday night brought even more buzz, as four-star offensive lineman Carter Jones started trending hard toward Clemson. The Tigers don’t have an O-line commit yet for 2027, but Jones could be the first. He’s set to visit on May 29, but don’t be surprised if he pulls the trigger and joins the family before he even gets to campus.

All eyes are on the weekend of May 29-31, when Clemson will roll out the orange carpet for 31 top targets. Every one of the Tigers’ 2027 commits will be there, ready to help reel in the next wave of stars. If this momentum keeps up, Clemson could have a top-10 class locked up before summer even hits.
