It’s heating up in the Upstate, but nothing is sizzling like Clemson recruiting right now. Dabo Swinney and our Tigers are on fire for the 2027 class, and with a massive summer of official visits on deck, the stage is set for Clemson to lock in the next wave of Tiger legends. After a mid-week recruiting blitz that left our rivals reeling, the Orange and White are rolling, and the buzz around The Valley is electric as top prospects get ready to make it official.
With 10 commits already in the boat for 2027, Swinney has Clemson humming at a championship level. Now, all eyes are locked on May 29-31, when the Tigers will roll out the orange carpet for 31 elite prospects. Here are the top names most likely to join the family and call Tigertown home.
THE TRENCH ANCHOR: CARTER JONES READY TO BOOM
All the momentum is with Clemson for four-star offensive line beast Carter Jones. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound mountain from Poquoson, Virginia, is set to announce his commitment Monday, and the experts are all pointing him to the Tigers. Matt Luke has been all-in on Jones for over two years, building a bond that feels like true family.
Jones is down to a final four: Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, and Tennessee. He’s already checked out the other three, so his Clemson visit is the last stop—and it could be the one that seals the deal.
If Jones pulls the trigger now, he goes from top target to class leader in a heartbeat.
THE DEFENSIVE HUNT: KALIB SPIVEY EYEING THE SCHEME
On defense, Clemson is hunting for a game-changing edge rusher to add to a loaded core that already features Max Brown (Sammy’s younger brother), Chris Chancellor Jr., and Harrison Luke. The top name on the board: three-star standout Kalib Spivey from Alexander City, Alabama.
Spivey’s final four: Clemson, Georgia Tech, Duke, and Maryland. He’ll be in the Valley June 12-14 for his official, then announce his decision June 25. Other schools are dangling early playing time, but Spivey is taking his time and weighing what matters most.
But what sets Clemson apart is the Tigers’ relentless focus on real development, not just quick paydays.
RIDING THE MOMENTUM OF THE 'WAFFLE HOUSE' ERA
This official visit season kicks off right after a legendary run of offensive pickups led by Chad Morris and Tyler Grisham. In just a few days, the Tigers landed four-star safety Jarrell Chandler, top-10 running back Gary Walker, and electric four-star receiver Jamarin Simmons.
Simmons adds blazing speed to a receiver room already stacked with Bryant Wesco Jr., T.J. Moore, Gordon Sellars III, Naeem Burroughs, and Connor Salmin. Folks are calling this the “Waffle House” era—because Simmons is always open.
Simmons, the 5-11, 165-pound burner from Amos P. Godby High in Tallahassee, was the first wideout in the 2027 class to earn a Clemson offer. He did it the hard way, dominating at Dabo’s camp last June and turning heads everywhere. He’s a perfect fit with four-star QB commit Kharim Hughley and fellow receiver Trey Wimbley.
If this momentum keeps rolling through official visits, our Tigers are on track to lock up a top-10 class before the summer heat really hits.
