2. The defensive back recruiting is going extremely well

If there’s one eyebrow-raising takeaway from this weekend it has to come in the secondary where Clemson is closing in on some of its top prospects.

The expectation is that this class will have a decent size defensive backfield commitment list (at least 2 cornerback with the possibility of 3, and at least 1 safety with the possibility of 2).

Clemson is really close to picking up two talented defensive back prospects- one cornerback and one safety.

4-star CB Toriano Pride and 4-star S Sherrod Covil both received multiple crystal ball predictions from 247 Sports’ recruiting insiders this past weekend. Pride has said that he plans to make a decision soon and Covil has always shown a major interest in the Tigers. As a matter of fact, Covil had already released a list of his top schools and then changed it immediately when Clemson offered him earlier this year.

Both of these guys would be great pickups and they’re not the only ones who we feel that Clemson has the lead for. 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus, an in-state product, was on campus for this weekend and all signs are pointing in the right direction for him as we head through the rest of the summer, as well.
