The 2022 Clemson football recruiting class currently only holds four commitments, but that all could be changing very soon as we progress through the summer.

The Tigers have hosted several major visitors through the first week and a half of the month since the NCAA lifted its dead period and there’s a buzz surrounding this Clemson football program on the recruiting trail that simply wasn’t there through this past year.

Clemson lost a couple of recruiting battles this spring- headlined by 4-star Jalon Walker who committed the Georgia- but momentum is starting to build back in the Tigers’ favor with several top prospects in the recruiting cycle.

4-star CB Toriano Pride is trending towards Clemson football

Clemson is in need of a quality cornerback class this cycle and there is a feeling that the Tigers might end up taking three cornerbacks before it’s all said and done.

One of the top targets for quite a while from the coaching staff has been 4-star CB Toriano Pride, who is rated as the No. 23 CB in the nation and the No. 4 overall player from the state of Missouri according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

Pride has considered many top schools, including Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia and Missouri, but intel to 247 Sports says that he is leaning towards Clemson.

247’s Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction in favor of Clemson back in February, National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu put in a prediction for the Tigers in May, and now Clemson 247’s Anna Hickey has put in a crystal ball prediction for Clemson. All three of the analysts rate their confidence as ‘high.’

Pride took an official visit to Ohio State this past week and will make the trip for an official at Oregon this weekend. After that, he’ll be in town for Clemson’s Elite Retreat.

He told Lettermen Row after his visit to Ohio State that he doesn’t have a commitment date, but that he’ll likely make a decision shortly after his visit to Clemson.

If the Tigers were to land Pride, it would be a major ‘get.’ He is a talented cornerback with the ability to come in and provide depth right away while being able to develop into an elite defensive back before it’s all said and done.

Outside of Pride, Clemson football fans should keep their eyes on in-state 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus as another top target at the position.
