What if we made a major change to the way the Clemson football stadium operates
The 2020 Clemson football season will quite possibly be the strangest in the history of the program as the Tigers attempt to play amidst a pandemic.
We’ve already seen some major changes presented this season with Clemson football fans being limited to just 19,000 in Death Valley and only around 2,200-2,400 of those will be students.
Students, who typically take up a section in the lower bowl and the hill, in addition to sections in the upper deck, will be moved to the south upper deck for the year and the Tiger Band, which is placed in the north side of the stadium right next to the hill will be on the hill this year.
Interestingly enough, Clemson football has seen seasons before where the Tiger Band was on the hill and it might could be a nice change to the way things are done in Death Valley permanently.
What if we saw Tiger Band on The Hill permanently for Clemson football games?
In a season where the stands are going to look barren, there is something extremely exciting and comforting about knowing that Tiger Band is going to be on The Hill when Clemson football enters the stadium.
Yes, the stadium is going to look different. Yes, it will be a different site seeing the band there instead of their usual spot, but at least we’re guaranteed that the Tigers are going to enter the stadium running down the hill to the tune of Tiger Rag.
Putting Tiger Band on The Hill permanently isn’t all that bad of an idea either. Think about the past where we’ve seen Clemson students leave games at halftime or midway through the third quarter.
If the band is on the hill, you can guarantee that it will stay empty for the entirety of the game, no matter the result. Also, the picture of seeing of the band surrounding the team as they enter the stadium is a site that the Tiger fans could very well come accustom to enjoying.
It’s all about pageantry and, yes, the student section is important. But Tiger Band on the Hill could be a power move we all come to prefer before it’s all said and done.
