Running backs: B-

Clemson’s running backs didn’t begin to play well until late in this contest. Similar to Kelly Bryant, the running backs were negatively effected by Clemson’s shaky play upfront.

The running backs as a whole were not overly impressive, however, true freshman Travis Etienne Jr. was the best player on the field against Boston College. The Louisiana native carried the ball nine times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Clemson’s coaching staff has a dilemma on their hands. As much as they would’ve liked to give CJ Fuller and Adam Choice the lions share of carries, it’s just not realistic. Through this point in the season Tavien Feaster and Etienne Jr. have been the best backs by a wide margin. You cannot keep a special talent like Etienne Jr. cooped up on the sideline.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Tigers’ depth chart looks heading into their week five matchup with Virginia Tech. The Hokies have one of the most intimidating home environments in the country.
