Which Clemson defensive tackle will step up this fall?

It’s very rare for Clemson to have questions about the defensive tackle room. Who in this year’s group will make sure Clemson keeps the title of DLU?

Champ Thompson

Burley is not the only Clemson defensive tackle that has been waiting his turn to step into a bigger role. Champ Thompson is in his third year with the program, and has been progressively making himself a key piece to the defensive front. In Thompson’s first year he played 41 snaps before redshirting, and played 102 snaps in his second year.

He will have the chance to earn more reps this fall. Thompson was not brought in as highly regarded as players like Burley and Adams, but he has worked his way into that group of players competing to be first on the depth chart.
