Clemson’s legendary No Fly Zone is about to get even nastier.
Coach Mike Reed isn’t wasting any time beefing up the secondary. Just days after making a move on former Alabama commit Nash Johnson III, the Tigers zeroed in on their next big target. Monday night, Brandon ‘Slim’ Leavell—the 6-2, 175-pound dynamo out of Madison, Tennessee—let the world know he’d earned a Clemson offer after lighting it up on his unofficial visit to campus.
This wasn’t just an offer—it was an invitation to the main event. Leavell’s already circled May 29-31 for his return to Tiger Town, and if you know Clemson recruiting, you know that’s the weekend when Dabo and company roll out the orange carpet.
The Prototype Cornerback
They call him “Slim” for his long, wiry build, but don’t get it twisted—this kid brings the heat. Last fall at Goodpasture Christian, Leavell was a walking highlight waiting to happen. He racked up 12 touchdowns as a receiver and picked off four passes on defense, showing off the kind of ball skills that make Tiger fans drool.
That blend of length, speed, and toughness? That’s exactly what new defensive coordinator Tom Allen dreams about for his secondary. The recruiting sites might call him an “athlete,” but in Clemson, we see a future lockdown corner ready to put receivers on an island.
Tigers in the Driver's Seat
Leavell’s recruitment has gone from zero to sixty in a hurry. He started the spring under the radar, but then the offers started pouring in—24 in just three months. The big boys are all circling—Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee—but right now, it’s Clemson that’s got the juice.
Currently, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Clemson as the front-runner with a 28.4% chance to land the standout, leading Tennessee (19%) and Florida State (16.2%).
Leavell’s got a gauntlet of official visits lined up, with trips to Knoxville and Tallahassee on deck. But make no mistake—locking in that big weekend in late May is a huge win for Coach Reed and the Tigers.
Building the Secondary
The Tigers aren’t just betting it all on Slim, either. While he’s at the top of the board, the staff is keeping tabs on other blue-chippers like Jayden Aparicio-Bailey and Bryce Williams—both four-stars, both with Clemson right near the top.
As the 2027 class starts to heat up, landing a game-changer like Leavell would send a loud message: Clemson is still the place where elite DBs come to shine.
