Brad Brownell just had a huge weekend of Clemson basketball recruiting, hosting three high-level transfers in Nick Davidson (Nevada), Carter Welling (Utah Valley), and Cooper Schwieger (Valparaiso).
The Tigers have no shortage of spots open on the roster for next season after losing eight guys, highlighted by the likes of Ian Schieffelin, Viktor Lakhin, Del Jones, Chauncey Wiggins, Jaeden Zackery, and Chase Hunter.
Only four players return from this past season's 27-7 team that finished second in the ACC and beat powerhouse Duke which is something only three teams in college basketball have been able to do.
That means that Brownell will have to target a handful of players from the transfer portal to complement an incomint recruiting class of three guys. There will be about five spots available to utilize in the portal this offseason and an intriguing name just announced his transfer plans.
A familiar face could potentially make a return to Clemson to help reload the roster for 2025-26.
NEW: Georgia forward RJ Godfrey has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, @PeteNakos_ reports.

The Suwanee, Ga., native played his first two seasons (69 games) at Clemson before transferring to Georgia for the 2024-25 season where he put up a career-best 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in just short of 20 minutes per game. He was a beloved member of the Tigers before he transferred and fans have wondered what a return might look like.
They may not have to wonder much longer.
While it's unclear whether Brownell will reach back it, it feels like he has to at this point given all the roster attrition and the fact that he already has a relationship with Godfrey and the fit is right.
This move would make a ton of sense for both sides and Godfrey could break out and become a star and lead Clemson back to the NCAA Tournament in a redemption tour. Imagine the storylines.
