Back-to-back interceptions fuel Clemson resurgence in second quarter
Clemson gave up its first opening quarter points and trailed for the first time since week one, but the Tigers' defense stepped up in the second quarter.
Wake Forest gave up back-to-back interceptions that led to Clemson touchdowns. The Tigers still gave up 103 yards and a touchdown in the second quarter, so Wake Forest is finding some success. Clemson's D has benefitted from turnovers all season — for which they deserve all the credit — but it's concerning they can't take care of business against an offense that ranks in the bottom half of the ACC without turnovers.
The offense has flipped its performance, scoring 28 points in the second quarter. Two touchdowns came off of Wake Forest turnovers. However, the first and last series of the quarter came on 75-yard drives, including one that responded to the Demon Deacons' touchdown.
Clemson will receive the ball in the second half. A touchdown and a stop on defense could put this game out of reach before the fourth quarter.
