Peter Woods
One player that can use a great performance at the combine is defensive tackle Peter Woods. Before the season began, Woods was seen as a bonafide first round pick in the 2026 draft class. After the way the 2025 season turned out for the Tigers, Woods’ position on the draft board isn’t as concrete.
Woods played well this season, but his production was not as high as many evaluators hoped for. He had just 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks this season.
Interior defensive linemen typically don’t fill the stat sheet, unless they are a player with Woods’ skill set. With his frame and freakish athleticism, Woods was expected to make a bit more of an impact in the box score.
He was still an All-ACC First-Team selection, and was treated as such by opponents. He faced tons of double-team and sometimes even triple-team blocks.
This puts Woods in an interesting position. Most people still see him as a first-round talent. However, his drop in production has some people questioning if he’s actually worth a first-round pick.
Woods can prove he still should be taken in the first-round by reminding people just how good of an athlete he is with his size. He’ll have to show how much upside he has that can benefit any team’s future.
