Deion Burks

Deion Burks played this past season at Purdue as a redshirt freshman. He had 15 catches for 149 yards. He also played special teams, returning three kickoffs for a total of 80 yards.

Burks was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school. He had offers from schools like Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati, and Indiana in addition to Purdue.

247’s Allan Trieu said this of Burk’s coming out of high school.

"“Should be an early impact guy in the slot but should not be viewed as only a slot as he has been effective as an outside receiver in high school. Projects as a playmaker at the high-major level.”"

He didn’t have a ton of catches and yards in 2023, but he did enough to catch the attention of the programs that didn’t recruit him out of high school. Apparently, Trieu was on to something.

Burks is 5’-11” and 195 pounds, so he is built for the slot. Clemson will likely have to make a choice at slot already. Antonio Williams and Tyler Brown are the Tigers’ best receivers. They also primarily play the slot. They will already have to decide which one they want to move to get both on the field at the same time.

It probably doesn’t make a lot of sense for Clemson to pursue Burks.
