Antwane Wells

The Juice is loose, and we Clemson fans can’t help but giggle a little bit.

Sorry to all my Gamecock friends for that one, but the situation was odd indeed. Wells was injured most of the season, but head coach Shane Beamer kept referring to the possibility he might come back.

Finally, Wells posted this before the Palmetto Bowl.

This cleared the air about the Palmetto Bowl. He just didn’t mention that he would be leaving for another school when the transfer portal opened.

Would Juice be a target for Clemson? He’s definitely a talent. I didn’t give him much credit when he originally transferred from James Madison to SC, but he proved me wrong.

No one knows what happened behind closed doors, but in hindsight, Beamer was subtly suggesting in his comments that playing was up to Juice, not the trainers.

Is Wells a character match? Some might be scared away by his refusal to play this season. It would have been clearer had he simply announced that he was going to preserve a season of eligibility so he could transfer, rather than insinuating that he wasn’t healthy.

Wells is the highest-rated uncommitted receiver in the portal. He will have many, many options.
