ACC – North Carolina Tar Heels

A week ago, I would have put Duke in this spot. Alas, the Devils might have to navigate a few weeks without Riley Leonard.

Several people thought the Tar Heels would be good. Drake Maye is a very good player. I think the question was whether they would have enough people around Maye to make a real run to the playoffs. The majority of people who predicted the ACC in the preseason pointed at Clemson and Florida State.

Now that the Tigers are already buried back in the ACC standings with two losses, the Tar Heels are positioned to step up and grab the spot opposite Florida State in the ACCCG. They still need to get by Duke, Miami, and Clemson.

I must acknowledge Miami as also being undefeated with a chance to grab a spot in the ACCCG for only the second time ever. I probably have just a bit more confidence in North Carolina, and the Hurricanes have to travel to Chapel Hill this year.

I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention Louisville. How good are the Cardinals? I don’t really know, but we will learn something this weekend as they play Notre Dame.

What I do know is that Louisville’s ACC schedule isn’t challenging. Their toughest opponents will be Duke (who might or might not have Leonard) and at Miami.

I lean towards the Heels right now.
