Let’s hear another round of applause for all the self-made recruiting gurus who get twisted when Clemson offers three-star talent. You would think they would learn eventually, right?

Well, here’s a good example. Lewis, who was once committed to Pittsburgh, enrolled early and the whispers about his play started quickly. Though he won’t be needed on the two-deep if everyone stays healthy, it sounds like he has earned the ‘next man up’ spot if anyone misses time.

I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on people who automatically underrated Lewis because he was a 3-star. 247Sports’s Andrew Ivins said the following when evaluating Lewis.

"“Will likely need a year or two to find his bearings at the next level, but has the looks of a future starting slot corner at the Power Five level. Should draw looks for NFL scouts one day given speed markers after capturing a state title as a junior in the 400-meter dash.”"

Lewis might not beat out healthy teammates to be in the two-deep, but if injuries happen and someone needs to step in, Lewis is the most likely freshman to get that opportunity.
