Unless you’ve been living under Howard’s Rock you know by now that Clemson football defensive lineman Bryan Bresee has opted to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Given Bresee’s probable placement in the draft order, I don’t blame him one bit and would even advise him to do so.

There’s simply little upside professionally from him returning and there’s the risk of injury if he did return and while there’s insurance, it’s not the same as a fully guaranteed $15,000,000 contract.

More than any of that though, it’s Bresee living out his childhood dream.

That makes three Clemson defenders that have declared for the NFL Draft, with Myles Murphy and Trenton Simpson being the other two.

That’s a lot to replace for Wes Goodwin and the defensive staff.

More decisions are yet to come and one can’t feel safe from the draft until the window expires on January 16.

Some of these players likely have friends and family pushing them toward the NFL, but you would also think they value and education if they chose Clemson and Dabo’s recruiting message.

Each situation is unique, but it sometimes ends up with the same result, for example, Murphy and Bresee.

Clemson football is picking up right where they left off in recruiting

Our own John Chancey detailed Clemson’s inclusion in the Top 13 schools for  Hevin Brown-Shuler, a four-star defensive lineman from Atlanta.

The Tigers also made the Top 15 for KJ Bolden the No. 2 overall recruit in the Class of 2024.

Bolden is a safety/ATH and as you can imagine with his ranking has a gaggle of offers.

Other News – Hemenway’s remarkable numbers

I’ve mentioned Alex Hemenway’s injury and absence several times, but I thought I would add some numbers to it today.

Hemenway is shooting 50% from three point range (25th in nation), with an effective field goal % of 72.9% (4th) and a true shooting % of 73.5% (3rd).

Amazing.

While Devin Hunter and Josh Beadle have played better lately, they are nowhere near the scorer that Hemenway is and at some point it can’t help but cost the Tigers if Hemenway is unable to contribute.

Next. Don't bet on the portal being the answer. dark
