No. 4 – Clemson at Wake Forest

There are college football fans who forget Wake Forest won the ACC Atlantic last season. This is especially true for Clemson fans who witnessed the Tigers big win over the Deacons when they were a Top 10 team. The lack of focus on Wake helps explain why most prognosticators see them as the third best team in the ACC Atlantic going into the 2022 season.

The reality is that the outcome to this game will be important to the ultimate outcome of the Atlantic division, and there is a chance that reality dawns on some of the producers at ESPN, especially if a few teams stumble early, making candidate games less appealing. I just think those chances are low.

Most likely: Arkansas at Texas A&M or Florida at Tennessee

I think it is most likely that Gameday will go to College Station this weekend. The atmosphere at Texas A&M is fantastic and they know the Aggie faithful will help put on a great show. Arkansas and head coach Sam Pittman are respected and the Razorbacks stand a good chance of being undefeated at this point in the season.

Tennessee has a chance to sneak in an grab this one if the cards fall just right. Knoxville is also a great atmosphere, but this one depends more on the Gators. If they pull off the upset of Utah in The Swamp, and then survive the inevitable close game against Kentucky, the excitement surrounding Billy Napier’s squad will thrust this matchup to the top of Gameday’s list, especially considering they expect to feature the Aggies against the Tide a couple weeks later.

Wisconsin at Ohio State is also a possibility, but this would be just three weekends after Gameday visits Columbus for the Notre Dame game, so I tend to think ESPN looks at College Station or Knoxville first.
