Did you know the Tigers and Bulldogs have played three times? Old timers remember the snow filled Boise, Idaho bowl game that I throw highlights up from occasionally, but there were also games in September of 2002 and 2006, which Clemson won handily.

The Bulldogs struggled to a 3-9 record in Conference USA in 2021, but were 10-3 as recently as 2019 and are breaking in a new coach in Sonny Cumbie.

If you live in Texas like me, this is a name you’re familiar with from his playing days at Texas Tech and coaching at Texas Christian and Texas Tech.

Cumbie has his work cut out for him as the guys over at rockmnation say rather succinctly.

"To put it bluntly: Louisiana Tech sucks. To expand slightly: in their best years they are a middling program stuck in the worst conference in the country with poor funding and a constant challenge of having to do more with less, even compared to their peers."

Keep in mind that’s a Missouri site saying how bad the Bulldogs are so my guess is they know bad when they see it.

Feel free to read more if you are so inclined, as they go into great detail about why they feel that way, but sometimes there’s such a thing as too much information.

Cumbie likely has a trick or two up his sleeve and as I indicated this will be the Tigers third game in 12 days, so I imagine at some point it’ll be walk-on time.
