Clemson hasn’t played Furman much lately, but the Tigers haven’t had any trouble with FCS opponents in general and there’s no reason to believe this one will be any different.

My only concern is that it’s only five days after the Tech game and that’s not because of any threat of losing, but rather the idea of early season fatigue, which could lead to injuries when guys are standing around piles waiting for the game to be over.

That’s one reason I expect the Tigers to just pound the ball against Georgia Tech and likely do much of the same against the Paladins.

There’s also the tendency to project a shutout given Clemson’s front seven against an FCS offensive line, but the truth is shutouts are rare, even when you’re defense is elite.  Things have to go pretty much perfectly for that to happen.

That means the question for me is not 0, but rather 3 or 7 for Furman.  Flip a coin.
