The highest ranked player in Clemson’s class of 2023 is competing with his contemporaries.

Clemson football quarterback commitment Chris Vizzina is competing at the Elite 11 finals in Redondo Beach, California.

There are 20 members of the 2023 class competing in various drills and Sports Illustrated plans to rank them after each of the drills and on who makes “the strongest impression.”

Vizzina came in 11th on the first rankings, based solely on the first day and while there were things to improve upon (as there should be for high school quarterbacks),  but much more positive than negative, which you would expect for a quarterback of Vizzina’s ranking.

"Vizzina is one of the more technically-sound quarterbacks who works well within his frame and his mechanics, as well as anticipation for throwing windows, allow for great accuracy and velocity put into throws within the middle of the field. He’ll want to work on his passes outside of the numbers as they can get a bit too much air underneath them, but passes between the seams, specifically deep ones, are a thing of beauty."

Vizzina came in 11th in one evaluators rankings, which are based on that day’s drills.

Of course, there are some that will see the ranking of 11 out of 20 and assume Vizzina is either a) over ranked by the services or b) being penalized as a Clemson recruit for some reason or another.

I don’t believe either.  I believe it’s one opinion of one day of workouts with more to come.

Vizzina’s been evaluated for years by professionals that rate quarterbacks for a living and I’m not going to let one evaluation after one day of drills override those years of evals that placed him as the 34th overall national recruit and 6th best quarterback in the class of 2023.

Next. Commitment time for prime Tiger targets. dark

That and there are more days to go in the competition and typically different players do better is different drills.
