Tight end target sets announcement date, with signs pointing to Clemson.
After a huge recruiting weekend and several commitments that followed, Clemson football has had a relatively quiet few days, but that change with Saturday’s commitment of Noble Johnson, a wideout from the Dallas, Texas metro area town of Rockwall.
In addition, to Monday’s planned commitment of Clemson LB target Jamal Anderson, a Clemson tight end target announced his decision date as June 14, which is Tuesday.
The 6’4, 230 pound Dixon is rated as a three star, 24th tight end and 475th ranked overall player in the 247 composite.
Dixon comes from Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania and is another player with offers from coast to coast, including Penn State, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oregon and Ole Miss in addition to Clemson.
It appears the Tigers were in a final group under consideration that included, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M.
The Tigers have moved on since the decommitment of tight end Reid Mikeska and if Dixon commits, it’ll be the second tight end commitment in less than a week with the commitment of Olsen Patt Henry last week.
Tigers appear to be in good shape with Pennsylvania tight end
We always caution about things changing quick in recruiting and given the other suitors for Dixon it’s not over till its over and then some.
That said, things look good for the Tigers as there are three crystal balls on Dixon to Clemson, including the very well connected Steve Wiltfong.
Should he select Clemson, Dixon would be the tenth commitment of the 2023 cycle and sixth in the last week.
Dixon will join, Chris Vizzina, Ian Reed, Olsen Patt Henry, David Ojiegbe, Nathaniel Joseph, Avieon Terrell, Braden Strozier, Kylen Webb and Noble Johnson as commitments in the 2023 class.
There are still many on Clemson’s radar, including some bigger names that the Tigers are chasing and hope to reel in to fill specific needs in the coming seasons.
