After securing commitment of Avieon Terrell on Monday, Clemson football struck again on Tuesday with offensive lineman Ian Reed out of the state of Texas.

Clemson football fans felt a slight bit of relief when word broke Monday of the commitment of defensive back Avieon Terrell.

There were hints, rumors, hopes and dreams of more commits resulting from the Tigers big recruiting weekend and it took less than twenty-four hours to become a reality.

Reed is a 6’5, 290 pound 4 star prospect from Vandergrift High School in Austin, TX rated as the 225th player overall and 22nd rated tackle by 247sports, who literally has offers coast to coast, from Clemson to Southern Cal, from Texas A&M to Ohio State, to Alabama to Wisconsin.

While Reed’s overall ranking doesn’t necessarily jump off the page, the depth, breadth and width of the offers speak volumes about college coaches belief in this young man and his potential at the next level.

Reed had visits set for Wisconsin (June 10), Oklahoma State (June 14) and Texas (June 24) that apparently will not happen after his commitment to Clemson on Tuesday.

Clemson football adds decorated, highly recruited offensive lineman to 2023 class

We’ve said it 100 times and we’ll say it 100 more, offensive line is a crucial area for any college football team, but especially for Clemson which has struggled at the position recently.

A notoriously difficult position to evaluate and project, it’s important to have quantity and options at the position, more so than most others.

Vandergrift plays at the highest level of Texas High School football in District 25-6A, where Reed was the Offensive Lineman of the Year as a junior.

Also of note is Clemson’s spot in the much discussed recruiting rankings now sits at 16, after being in the mid 30s over the weekend.
