As we detailed in previous posts the momentum for Clemson football recruiting seems to be picking up post-Spring Game.

We mentioned two prospects in particular that we’re keeping an eye on and one of those happened to announce on social media that he will commit on April 27.

Ojiegbe is a 6’3, 235 pound,four-star edge player, ranked 164 overall by 247sports.com and 210th in the 247.com composite.

He’s seen as someone who has the frame to fill out and develop in college, so not necessarily a plug and play type recruit. In other words, Clemson’s type of recruit.

The scouting report from Brian Dohn at 247sports.com has this to say about Ojiegbe:

"Size and length fit mold of developing edge position in college. Has frame to easily add 20 pounds or can stay closer to current weight based on need in college system. Showed big development from spring sophomore season to junior fall season. Saw play in November 2021 and athleticism and burst at snap jumps out. High ceiling player because of frame and athleticism. Plays with hand on ground and as standing edge. Displays short area quickness. Is heavy handed, able to anchor and has stack-and-shed ability. Has upper body strength with ability to add to it. Is balanced even when absorbing double team. Works hard to get off blocks. Relies heavily on speed and determination. Does not shy away from physical play. Is assignment conscious."

Ojiegbe has four crystal ball predictions on 247sports.com, all pointing to Clemson and while crystal ball predictions have been wrong before, those coming from Steve Wiltfong and Anna Hickey have been more reliable in my experience.

There’s also the feeling that Ojiegbe  making this decision in April is good news for Clemson and all signs point to that being the case.

As we always say, there’s never a sure thing in recruiting and this isn’t either, but things are looking up for the Tigers on this front and perhaps others.
