Clemson football finally broke through on the recruiting trail last week, getting two commitments in two days, first from quarterback Chris Vizzina of Birmingham, Alabama and following that up with tight end Reid Mikeska from Texas.

So, naturally Clemson fans want to know who’s next.

Recruiting is an interesting, fascinating and frustrating business and one never knows how things will work out until the papers are signed and even then there’s been a time or two that even that didn’t make it final.

That means whatever information that’s shared is not guaranteed. It’s feels weird to have to even say that, but it is what it is.

Two candidates we’re tracking are edge rusher David Ojiegbe of Washington, DC and offensive tackle Sullivan Absher of Belmont, North Carolina.

Ojiegbe is a four-star, ranked just outside the top 200 (208) that stands 6’3, 235.  He’s seen as someone who has the frame to fill out and develop in college, so not necessarily a plug and play type recruit.

Absher also a four-star (269 overall) is 6’7 and 290 and plays in an offense that rarely passes, so there’ll be an adjustment at the next level.

For what it’s worth, Ojiegbe has four crystal ball predictions on 247sports.com, all pointing to Clemson.

Absher has three total crystal balls with two going to Clemson and one to Notre Dame.

It’s important to note that the two predictions for Clemson are recent (April), while the Notre Dame projection was done back in January.

With the two most recent commits, Clemson moved to number 26 in the 247 rankings.

The final ranking, while indicative of having a chance at a National Championship, is not necessarily important to me as Clemson generally is going to have fewer commits most years than other programs.

What is important is the quality of those that the Tigers get remains high due to the smaller number of recruits.

While there’s no known timetable for Ojiegbe or Absher to announce, Clemson fans are hoping the recent momentum continues.
