Five Clemson football players who need more playing time the rest of the 2021 season

5. RB Phil Mafah

We should obviously be proud of the production we’ve seen from Will Shipley and Kobe Pace, but the one running back who should absolutely get more credit is Phil Mafah.

Mafah had a 60-plus yard run against Florida State and, honestly, there’s more where that came from.

He is a violent runner and many believed that he would develop into that ‘third down specialist’ over the course of his career, but he is showing that he is much more than a change-of-pace back.

The explosiveness that he runs with and his body type is similar to that of a Najee Harris or Derrick Henry. He is big, but he can get downfield in a hurry.

As this season continues to progress, Clemson needs to find a way to get the ball in the hands of Mafah more often because he is a guy who can help create some big plays down the stretch.
