Five problems that aren’t going away for Clemson football even after 2021 ends

5. Hurt perception that is sure to linger for at least an offseason

Whether you want to admit or not, there is going to be a lot said about the Clemson football program– honestly, there already is– in the media. And, it’s not going to be positive.

National media has looked for a reason to bury Clemson for nearly a half-decade now and they’ve finally got their ammunition. That’s going to hurt the perception from the outside-looking in.

It’s unfortunate, but there are recruits who might’ve chosen the Tigers who are now going to look elsewhere because of the “uncertainty” surrounding the program.

Dabo Swinney still has the ability to save the perception and put Clemson right back at the top again, but that opportunity won’t present itself until the fall of 2022. Until then, we can expect that the Tigers won’t be ranked nationally in any preseason poll and that we’ll see media members constantly looking for ways to attack Clemson’s viability as we move forward.

Playing the underdog card has worked well in the past and Swinney– along with most of his staff– has always been an elite recruiter so we don’t believe this one season will hurt the Tigers too much.

But, there’s also no doubting that if these issues aren’t fixed and they continue to linger into 2022 that we could be facing even bigger problems in terms of the program and its future as a whole.

The next great Tiger QB isn't on the roster currently. dark. Next
