1. The ramifications of a loss for the Clemson football program as a whole

This isn’t an in-game concern, but absolutely something that is already being talked about before the game is played.

While I’ve gone on the record in saying that a 12-1 Clemson team with an ACC Championship gets into the CFB Playoff, there is already a large contention of fans who are pointing to the Tigers’ perceived weak schedule and saying that if they don’t beat Georgia, they should automatically be out of the running.

Let Clemson lose to Georgia and you’ll start to hear that narrative not just from fans, but from analysts who dictate the narrative. Honestly, we’re already hearing it from Paul Finebaum.

People are looking for any reason possible to write-off and leave the Clemson football program for dead. A loss to the Bulldogs on national television would certainly give them more ammunition.

No one here is saying that a Clemson loss is detrimental to the program, but we guarantee you that will be the narrative if it happens.

Clemson has a chance to cement itself on the same level as Alabama with a win over Georgia, but the Tigers could very well fall from grace just a week into the season. It’s not fair, but that’s exactly what’s on the table heading into this one.

Next. It looks like Clemson isn't dead after all. dark
