The Clemson football program is taking advantage of the fact that prospects can finally take visits to campus again as the NCAA officially lifted its Dead Period as the calendar year moved to June.

The Tigers are set to host hundreds of visits from highly-touted prospects in both the 2022  and 2023 classes over the next few weeks. The Clemson football coaching staff will be looking to simultaneously build early relationships with the 2023 class while getting caught up on the 2022 class.

One of the top targets for Clemson as we look ahead to what might become of the 2022 class is 5-star DE Jeremiah Alexander.

Alexander took his first visit since the lifting of the NCAA Dead Period to Clemson and, from all accounts, the Tigers made some serious progress in getting back in the fold for his recruitment.

Clemson football will have heavy competition for the talented 5-star edge-rusher

Alexander is slated to visit Georgia, UCF, Alabama and Florida this month.

At this point, the Crimson Tide are considered the heavy favorite to land his services, and they should be. Alexander is the No. 1 overall player from the state of Alabama and you have to go back to 2019 (George Pickens- UGA) and 2018 (Justyn Ross- Clemson) to find the last two recruiting cycles in which the Crimson Tide didn’t land the top player from their state.

Of all the defensive ends in this class, Alexander is likely the most explosive and he’s clearly college-ready. He’s a guy who could play a defensive end role or even move to an outside linebacker spot if needed because he simply has that much versatility and athleticism.

Clemson has made up ground with the visit and the Tigers- from Alexander’s emission- will get another shot with him at some point in the near future, but there’s no doubt that the competition is stiff.
