The city of Jacksonville is ready to welcome Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence to the franchise and that can be seen in its latest gesture.
Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry announced on Twitter that the plan is to light up the downtown Acosta Bridge with orange & purple colors Tonight as they prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars to draft Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft Thursday evening.
Clemson football fans are about to become Jacksonville Jaguars fans in the biggest way
The one thing we’ve seen from Clemson fans over time is that they love to follow their favorite Tigers once they make it to the NFL and they pull for them do well. There is a ‘family aspect’ that follows those players well after their collegiate career has come to a close.
That’s especially going to be the case with Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence is about to become the highest draft pick in Clemson football history and he’s already showing that his brand is going to be around for years to come as he continues to sign endorsement deals with major sponsors.
Clemson fans are going to flock to follow Lawrence in the league and there’s no doubt that there will be many more Tiger fans watching and keeping up with the Jags than ever before. We might even start to see some orange & purple appearing at games in TIAA Bank Field.
Lawrence’s jersey is going to be a popular item and there’s no doubt that both Jags and Tiger fans alike are excited to see him on the field.
In addition to the major support that the community of Jacksonville is already showing for Lawrence- even though he hasn’t been officially welcomed as a member of the team yet- we could potentially see another Tiger, or two, selected to follow Lawrence down the Jacksonville before it’s all said and done.
