Trevor Lawrence: 5 things doubters say and why they’re wrong
2. What doubters say: Trevor Lawrence doesn’t have the ‘competitive fire’ to win a championship
Building on those ‘commitment issues’ that Lawrence apparently has, many doubters will say that he doesn’t have that ‘competitive fire’ to win a championship.
After all, his father did say that Lawrence isn’t a ‘win the Super Bowl at all costs kind of guy,’ right?
The problem is that we see that competitive fire display itself all the time in Lawrence’s play. Don’t you remember him staring down the South Carolina sideline after throwing a touchdown strike? Don’t you remember him shoving a dude during an intramural basketball game? That’s competitive fire.
You don’t get to the level that Lawrence is out without being competitive and wanting to push yourself.
He doesn’t have the heart? He can’t win? Well, it’s not like he went 34-2 as a starter for his career in college. It’s not like he didn’t win numerous state championships in high school and only lose one game in his career.
Lawrence may have a laid back personality and he might not show emotion how you want him to, but there’s no question he has the competitiveness needed to win at the next level.
