3. What doubters say: Trevor Lawrence doesn’t have the right commitment level

This the one that’s going around the internet and on social media currently.

Lawrence recently gave an in-depth interview for a cover story with Sports Illustrated and he explained that he doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder and that he has more to life than just football.

"“It’s hard to explain that because I want people to know that I’m passionate about what I do and it’s really important to me, but . . . I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder, that everyone’s out to get me and I’m trying to prove everybody wrong,” he says. “I just don’t have that. I can’t manufacture that. I don’t want to.” Marissa adds, “There’s also more in life than playing football.”"

Lawrence has always been open about his faith and about the love he has for his family, friends and community, but now the doubters think that means he’s not committed to football.

The last time I checked, though, and we wrote this previously: Lawrence was the one who made the stand that ended up saving the College Football season.

Why would someone who wasn’t committed to football want to do that?

If you’ve been around Lawrence, you know that he is more than committed to being the best player he can be and those quotes should be celebrated showing us a player who is level-headed and mature beyond his years. Instead, doubters only see what they want to.
