Trevor Lawrence haters? Dabo Swinney already told you once

There’s been a lot of questioning when it comes to Trevor Lawrence as a draft prospect, particularly in the last week.

NFL analysts try to make a name for themselves by having the ‘hottest takes’ and, most of the time, that means going against the grain, reporting the outlier in sources and jumping on a bandwagon with the hopes that it catches steam.

The latest trend in NFL analysts? Discrediting Trevor Lawrence.

Trevor Lawrence has been considered the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft ever since his sophomore year (perhaps earlier) of high school. Well before he chose Clemson, there were NFL scouts already drooling over his potential and what he could bring to the league one day.

Now, all of a sudden, there’s a contingent of NFL ‘analysts’ who are spewing nonsense about Lawrence and his ability at the next level.

We’ve heard analysts say that BYU’s Zach Wilson is a better QB prospect. We’ve heard them say that Lawrence might be the third-best QB in the class. We’ve heard them say that they’re not sold on him being a ‘can’t miss’ prospect.

What Dabo Swinney has to say about Trevor Lawrence matters more than what analysts and their ‘sources’ say

Hearing NFL analysts discredit a Clemson quarterback isn’t anything new.

We heard countless talking heads discuss Deshaun Watson as a draft prospect back in 2017 and some even came to the conclusion that Watson wasn’t even deserving of a first-round pick.

At the time that these things were being said, what did Dabo Swinney have to say on the matter?

"“He comes to every meeting prepared,” Swinney said of Watson. “That’s how you change things, you change the culture, through…for me it’s through discipline and recruiting, staffing and all that stuff. For them, it’s decision-making, it’s who you pick. And I’m just telling you: They pass on Deshaun Watson, they’re passing on Michael Jordan. I mean, I don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, I’m just an old funky college coach, but Deshaun Watson is the best, by a long shot.”"

While analysts continue to try and convince you that ‘they know what they’re talking about,’ Dabo Swinney proves it.

Those analysts have tried to hide and downplay their comments about Watson back in 2017 since he is now one of the top quarterbacks in the league and on the rise in the biggest way. Who could’ve ever seen that coming?

Now, we’ve got the same crowd going after Trevor Lawrence. So, what did Dabo Swinney have to say about Lawrence earlier this past year when asked the Heisman Trophy?

"“The best player in the country is Trevor Lawrence,” Swinney said. “I mean I don’t really care what anybody says and there’s a lot of great players out there, but the best player in the country is Trevor Lawrence. He doesn’t need to win the Heisman for that to be the case.“If our goal was for him to win the Heisman, he’d be leading for the Heisman right now,” Swinney said. “No doubt about that. But you know that’s not our goal. Our goal is to just to win the game.”"

Swinney already told you once when he compared Deshaun Watson to Michael Jordan. Countless times this past year he has called Trevor Lawrence the best player in the nation.

Are we really going to continue to see analysts just ignore him again? He already told you once. What else is there to discuss?
