Clemson football: Ty Simpson is now a 5-star, but things aren’t looking good
Clemson football target Ty Simpson is now a 5-star QB
The top quarterback target in the 2022 recruiting class for Clemson football is now a 5-star, according to 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.
Ty Simpson, a native of Martin, Tennessee, moved up quite a bit in the latest rating updates and he is now listed as the No. 27 player overall nationally and the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country. He is also the No. 2 overall player from the state of Tennessee.
Simpson is expected to announce his decision this Friday afternoon and has a final four of Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi State.
While at different points Clemson football was considered the leader, that is not the vibe being given as we are just days from the decision.
The latest from recruiting insiders is that Simpson is leaning Alabama and that can be seen in the latest crystal ball prediction for him. Bama OnLine’s Hank South put in a crystal ball prediction for Alabama– the first for the Crimson Tide- on Wednesday with a ‘medium’ confidence level.
The overall pull in this recruitment seems to be moving away from Clemson football and that can be seen in the Tigers’ interest in another 4-star QB
Simpson has kept his recruitment close to the vest and there is no definitive yet on where he will end up, but things are really indicating Alabama as of late.
Simpson has continuously talked about his desire to play in the SEC and the pedigree of the Crimson Tide is obviously something that has made an impression on him.
If he does choose Clemson on Friday, we wouldn’t necessarily be surprised, but the expectation is that he’ll go elsewhere.
Interestingly enough, though, the Tigers have shown a ton of interest in 4-star QB Cade Klubnik. Klubnik was one of the biggest movers (106 spots) in the updated Rivals’ 250. In terms of the 247 Sports’ composite rankings, Klubnik is now considered the No. 4 pro-style QB in the country and the No. 74 overall player in the nation.
