Trevor Lawrence will have surgery, won’t participate at Clemson’s Pro Day
Report: Trevor Lawrence will have surgery, won’t participate at Clemson’s Pro Day
Former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
Lawrence has been considered a highly-anticipated draft prospect ever since his younger years of high school and the hype surrounding him continues to grow as we inch closer to the spring.
Trevor Lawrence is projected to be taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 1 pick, but there is some news coming out of the Lawrence camp.
Instead of participating at Clemson’s Pro Day next month, Trevor Lawrence will now throw for NFL teams on February 12th, which is next week.
The reason for Lawrence pushing up the showcase date and not coming back to Clemson? ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Lawrence undergo left labrum shoulder repair. On Twitter, Schefter also noted that doctors are confident he will be recovered for the start of camp.
Trevor Lawrence is still the No. 1 overall pick, but this probably will create at least a little bit of doubt in the mind of the Jaguars
The extent of the injury or the surgery recovery time are not going to be disclosed by Lawrence or his agent to any level.
Hopkins Medicine estimates that the recovery time for a torn labrum is at least six weeks and could take several months before the injury is completely healed and the athlete is back to 100 percent. In all, you could be looking at anywhere between 3-8 months of recovery time. Though, Lawrence’s doctors are likely estimating on the lower side.
There’s no doubt that Lawrence is still the No. 1 overall pick, but an injury will at least put a kernel of doubt in the heads of the Jaguars. That’s exactly why Lawrence is going to throw ahead of his surgery.
He likely won’t be ready to showcase himself before the draft following the surgery, so going ahead and moving up his showcase date (instead of waiting on Clemson’s Pro Day) so that he can have the surgery and begin the recovery process seems like the smartest choice.
