Clemson football assistants get raises as part of the 2021 staff shakeup

The Clemson football coaching staff experienced a bit of a shakeup this offseason in how they’ll operate moving forward into the 2021 season.

As we all have heard by now, Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney made three major changes to his staff this offseason, all on the offensive side of the ball:

  • C.J. Spiller has taken over as the RBs Coach
  • Tony Elliott- still the offensive coordinator- will now be the TEs Coach
  • Danny Pearman- previously the TEs Coach- will now take on an off-the-field role that will, in part, have to do with NCAA Transfer Portal evaluation.

The Clemson Board of Trustees met Thursday morning and approved the staffing changes and also made several moves in terms of salaries for Clemson football assistant coaches.

Tony Elliott received the biggest raise and will now $2 million. He was previously making $1.7 million. Brent Venables is now the highest-paid assistant in the country with a salary of $2.4 million. C.J. Spiller, who was an unpaid assistant last year, will now make $300,000 a year as the RBs Coach and Danny Pearman will take a salary cut (previously $545,000) as he will make $250,00 in his new off-the-field role.

Lastly, Brandon Streeter received a raise from $595,000 per year to $615,000 per year.

Clemson football continues to stay ahead of the curve and shows why assistants want to stay

Brent Venables is making almost as much money per year as the Defensive Coordinator at Clemson as he would be as a head coach.

It just goes to show how Dabo Swinney takes care of his staff.

They’re constantly receiving raises and being rewarded for hard work and success. That’s something that many programs around the nation cannot say.

The Tigers are remaining ahead of the curve and continuing to show the nation why they’re here to stay for the long-term and it all starts with the investments that Swinney is making in his staff.
