When’s the earliest that Trevor Lawrence could return to action?

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has tested positive for COVID-19, according to reports, and will be out for the Boston College game this coming Saturday afternoon.

Lawrence, who is in the midst of a Heisman race, has played excellent throughout the season but will now be sidelined as he goes through a quarantining period following the positive test.

With the news out, it certainly begs the question: When’s the earliest that Trevor Lawrence could return to action?

According to the protocols set forth by the ACC, Lawrence will have to isolate for 10 days and then can return to the team without an acclimation period. He revealed on Twitter that he was experiencing mild symptoms- which means this isn’t an asymptomatic positive- and that means he would be able to return following a 10-day isolation period.

The test was conducted on Wednesday, which means he could conceivably return to action 10 days later- which would be next Saturday. According to ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, the 10-period actually begins at the onset of symptoms, so it’s possibly Trevor Lawrence could return before then.

For example, if his symptoms started on Monday, he could return 10 days later- which would be a Tuesday return. He’d also need to clear heart tests for myocarditis before being able to return to action.

Trevor Lawrence will likely be out against Notre Dame, but it’s not a given

The overarching thought here? Lawrence is likely going to be out when the Tigers travel up to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but that’s not a given at this point.

More important than anything, we wish Trevor Lawrence a speedy recovery with mild symptoms and no lasting effects.

He has said himself that he can’t wait to be able to return to the field, but that doesn’t mean it will be in a certain time period.

The good news that came from this report was that Clemson is good in terms of contact-tracing. That means that both D.J. Uiagalelei and Taisun Phommachanh will be available with Lawrence out.
