Clemson football will face one of its toughest opponents in 2020 on Saturday in Death Valley.

Any Clemson football fan that thinks Clemson football is simply going to walk the dog Saturday against Boston College, hasn’t paid attention to this BC team under first-year head coach Jeff Hafley. This isn’t going to the same type of BC team that former head coach Steve Addazio would lead onto the field.

The Eagles offense is putting up almost 28 points per game in 2020 and is 25th in the country with 279 yards passing a game under offensive Frank Cignetti and quarterback Phil Jurkovec – the redshirt sophomore transfer from Notre Dame.

As Rubbing the Rock contributor James Bostic said – Jurkovec is the best quarterback that Boston College has had since Matt Ryan. Any long time Clemson football fan knows exactly how bad Matt Ryan treated Clemson during his career. If you don’t know, Matt Ryan went 3-0 against Clemson and put up 42 points per game.

Through six games, the Clemson football secondary has been feast or famine.

As talented as the Clemson football secondary is, they have not played very well this season. Sure, they did a great job against Miami and have held their own in spots but they have also given up a few explosive plays through the air.

Jurkovec along with CJ Lewis, Jaelen Gill, Zay Flowers, and tight end Hunter Long will test the back end of the Tigers defense Saturday afternoon. They can and will make plays in the passing game and if the Clemson football secondary is caught looking in the backfield or not playing assignment football, this BC offense will make Saturday a long day.

The Clemson football defense is allowing 170 yards per game through the air but has faced just three teams that have passing offenses in the Top 50 in the country – 39th Virginia, 40th Wake Forest, and 43rd Miami.

This will be the best passing attack that Clemson football faces in 2020, even next week’s opponent Notre Dame is outside the Top 50 in passing offense. The Tigers are going to be tested Saturday and if they are looking ahead to next week’s top five matchup against Notre Dame in South Bend, they may not make it there unscathed.
