Trevor Lawrence will miss at least the BC game because of COVID-19.

News broke late Thursday night that Trevor Lawrence was going to miss the Boston College game this week and more than likely the Notre Dame game next week thanks to a positive COVID-19 test – though that has not been confirmed.

We have not heard if this is a confirmed positive or possibly a false positive like we saw Alabama head coach Nick Saban receive last week.

Trevor was having the best start of his career. He had thrown 17 touchdowns, just two interceptions, he has thrown for more than 1800 yards, and had not played a lot of the second halves. More importantly, he is completing 70 percent of his passes.

If the positive test is in fact a positive test, the best scenario is that Trevor is out just two games and then the Tigers have a bye week, so he would be back for the FSU game on November 21st.

We will get to see a lot of true freshman quarterback and Trevor Lawrence successor DJ Uiagalelei over the next two weeks.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has raved about the freshman and he has looked great in the limited action over the four games he has taken more than a handful of snaps. He has the size and the arm strength to be elite but can he execute when the lights are brightest?

We will find out this week.

The Tigers should be in great hands without Trevor Lawrence over the next two weeks. While it is never good to lose a player of his stature, the Tigers are built to withstand the loss and keep moving forward, though we should point out that injuries are mounting as well.

Tyler Davis, James Skalski, Darian Kendrick, and Justin Mascoll have all missed significant time due to injury and several are expected to miss more time moving forward.

Let’s hope that Trevor is asymptomatic and is able to move past this quickly for his health’s sake. Whether he gets back on the field soon or not takes a back seat when talking about injuries or health risks.
