Clemson football coaches are talking up a bad Syracuse team

The Clemson football team just hung 73 points on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets without breaking a sweat and the Tigers are clearly showing a gap between them and the rest of the ACC- and the country, for that matter- when it comes to program development.

The overwhelming talent and depth that Clemson football possesses is apparent, but you wouldn’t know it by talking to the Tiger coaches.

Clemson Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott met with the media virtually for his weekly press conference and said that Syracuse’s defense ‘can embarrass you.’

After Elliott talked up the Orange defense, it was Dabo Swinney talking up the Syracuse offense on Tuesday.

Swinney said that Syracuse has talent to challenge the Tigers on the outside and that the team has to be prepared for deep shots down the field.

This is what makes the Clemson football program great, no doubt

Don’t pay attention to the fact that the line for this game opened at 37.5 points and has quickly grown to past 40. Don’t pay attention to that explosive Tiger offense that put up 73 points on a much better Georgia Tech defense than what they’ll face this week without batting an eye. Also, forget that Syracuse just lost in pretty convincing fashion to a bad Liberty team.

There’s a reason that Dabo Swinney has been as successful as he has been in building this Clemson football program over the last decade and it has to do with his ability to motivate and keep his team focused.

Swinney- and his staff, for that matter- is a master at motivating his team and keeping them in the moment. That’s why we’ve only seen a handful of upsets all-time since he took over as the Head Coach.

We respect him for it and it’s something we as Clemson football fans love about him and this program. The fact that every week is a nameless, faceless opponent. It’s a winning culture and something that is often imitated, but rarely duplicated.

All of that being said, this is a bad Syracuse team. There’s no reason that this should be a game by halftime because the Tigers are simply that much better.
