Fans of Clemson football have known this for quite some time, and no matter how badly some want to debate the merits of this statement, it is not arguable.
Whether Trevor Lawrence will win the Heisman remains to be seen. We have been down this road before and it ended with Deshaun Watson winning a national title and nearly every award given to a quarterback except the Heisman.
Football players don’t come to Clemson to win individual awards, they come to be part of the best program in college football and to be part of something much greater than themselves. They come to grow and develop holistically not for fame and fortune.
Yes, winning an individual award is great but it won’t make Trevor Lawrence any less of an extraordinary person just like Deshaun wasn’t made any less of the amazing and spectacular person.

As players like Lawrence and Darien Rencher have pointed out over the last month, they have grown up in the social media age. For a talent like Lawrence, that means playing with additional pressures of everyone else’s expectations – friends, family, media, coaches, teammates, and those expectations are in his face 24/7.
Trevor has had to listen to people for a year now question who he is on and off the field and that includes many Clemson football fans.

Over the last two months, a faction of Clemson football fans has been willing to throw him under the bus because he had the audacity to follow in the footsteps of a religious figure and proclaim love for all and put his words into actions to help his brothers.
And while all of this is taking place, he has been a silent assassin on the practice field and in the weight room.
Trevor Lawrence is bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter than he ever has been. While he has not played a whole lot the first two games, when he has played, he has been laser-focused and locked in. The deep balls that were overthrown last year are dropped on dimes.
