When you are the premier college football program in the country such as Clemson football is, fans across the country love to hate you are getting more attention than their championship deprived programs are.
With no Pac-12, Big Ten, or SEC football last week, their fans had plenty of time to drool, wipe their chins and then take to social media to let everyone know how overrated they believe the Tigers are – all the while being thankful that their program either won’t have to play them at all or that they have 16 weeks to prepare for the unstoppable train that is Clemson football.
When you are the king of the mountain, you are going to get every teams’ best shot, and every fan bases best (and lamest) quips. It makes for great entertainment as we look for things to do for the next six days until Clemson gets to kick off again.
Make no mistake about it, there isn’t another team in college football that can hang with Clemson – not now and not anytime in the foreseeable future.

It took the best team that the SEC has ever had, combined with the worst game Clemson has played in several years just to end the Tigers 29 game winning streak. That isn’t happening again anytime soon. As of right now, Ohio State isn’t playing, LSU is a 7 or 8 win team, Alabama/Texas/Oklahoma doesn’t scare anyone, Notre Dame is the most overrated team in the country, and UGA is all flash and no substance.
At the end of the day, every other team in the country is either not playing or they are fighting for second place.
Throughout the entire offseason, while other coaches were sitting on their hands, Coach Dabo Swinney, his coaching staff, his strength and conditioning staff, and his support staff successfully created and executed a plan that has Clemson so far out in front of the pack that they all look like raisins in the rearview mirror.
Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence tweeted out six months ago he was going to be on a whole other level this season. That was the case in week one and he is only going to get scarier as the competition gets better and the stakes get higher.
