College Football 2020: TV Guide & Predictions for Week 1
After what has seemed like an eternity, College Football has finally returned.
Throughout the offseason, College Football fans had to deal with mountains of uncertainty in the midst of constant negativity from national media members and fellow fans, as well. The likelihood of a College Football season of any kind- including playing any games at all- seemed bleak during the summer, but yet here we are.
The first week of the College Football season is upon us and we’ve got actual games to be played this Saturday.
We’ve already gotten an appetizer with games like Austin Peay-Central Arkansas, Central Arkansas at UAB, Arkansas State at Memphis, BYU at Navy and UAB at Miami, and now we’re ready for the main course.
Here’s a look at some games that may most interest Clemson football fans this weekend with our predictions (the predicted winner is marked in bold) for the outcome.
Complete College Football TV Guide for Week 1
Noon Slate:
- Syracuse at #18 UNC, 12 p.m. (ACC Network)
- Louisiana at #23 Iowa State, 12 p.m. (ESPN)
- Charlotte at Appalachian State, 12 p.m. (ESPN 2)
- Arkansas State at Kansas State, 12 p.m. (FOX)
This week’s slate of games doesn’t have a ton of major match-ups, but there still could be some fun games. Specifically, at noon, Clemson fans should keep their eyes on UNC- one of the Tigers’ main competitors in the ACC- and then maybe tune over to the Appalachian State just for fun.
Afternoon Slate:
- UL Monroe at Army, 1:30 p.m. (CBSSN)
- Duke at #10 Notre Dame, 2:30 p.m. (NBC)
- Georgia Tech at Florida State, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)
- Austin Peay at Pittsburgh, 4 p.m. (ACC Network)
Some more ACC action and I’m actually really excited to see Chase Brice and Duke take on Notre Dame and then to see that Florida State-Georgia Tech match-up. The Seminoles have a new coach in Mike Norvell and it will be interesting to see what kind of turnaround they can make.
Evening & Night Slate:
- The Citadel at South Florida, 7 p.m. (ESPN U)
- Clemson at Wake Forest, 7:30 p.m. (ABC)
- Western Kentucky at Louisville, 8 p.m. (ACC Network)
- Coastal Carolina at Kansas, 10 p.m. (FS1)
Of course, all of our eyes will be on the Clemson-Wake Forest game. That being said, it may be intriguing just to see how Jeff Scott looks in his first game as the Head Coach of USF as the Bulls take on The Citadel, who will be Clemson’s opponent next weekend.
This first week of College Football isn’t the strongest, but we certainly won’t complain about getting to watch any games this season- no matter who the teams are on the field.
