Clemson vs. Notre Dame ranked the ‘best game of the season’

The Clemson football team enters the 2020 season as the unquestioned favorite to win the National Championship.

The Tigers are led by returning stars Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne and look laser-focused on avenging their loss in the National Title game a little less than eight months ago.

As we continue to prepare for the upcoming season, 247 Sports’ Brad Crawford released an article detailing what he believes to be the top 25 games in the country for this fall. The list, interestingly enough, was capped off by the Clemson vs. Notre Dame match-up, set to take place later this November.

In addition to Clemson vs. Notre Dame, Crawford lists Georgia-Alabama, Alabama-LSU, Florida-Goergia, and Oklahoma State-Oklahoma as his top-five.

Some other notable games to make his list inside the top-10?

  • 10) Clemson at Virginia
  • 9) Auburn at Alabama
  • 6) Texas vs. Oklahoma
  • 7) LSU at Florida

Clemson at Notre Dame could be one for the ages, or an absolute sleeper

There is a wide range of opinions on Notre Dame relating to this season and the truth is that no one knows what the Fighting Irish will be able to do this fall.

Some believe Notre Dame is a legitimate threat at winning the ACC Championship, beating Clemson twice and competing in the CFB Playoff. Others think the Fighting Irish may have a tough time beating teams like North Carolina and Louisville, and could possibly even miss out on getting to play the Tigers in the ACC Championship game before it’s all said and done.

That’s why this pick is intriguing.

It’s clear that Crawford is valuing Notre Dame highly, but it certainly doesn’t seem like a given that they’ll prove to be elite.

In the end, we know the Tigers will bring it, the only question is if the Fighting Irish will have what it takes to make the match-up a classic.
