Clemson football won’t be the same in 2020

No matter how you look at the current landscape of CFB, there’s really no doubting that the 2020 Clemson football season simply won’t be the same.

Of course, any Clemson football fan would tell you that they would take football (even without fans) over no football at all, but that doesn’t mean that things won’t be missed this coming season.

Even if we do somehow play a season this fall and fans are allowed in the stadium in likely a limited capacity role, the pageantry and absolute fandom of College Football is going to be squarely missed.

Clemson football fans will miss some things this year, no doubt about it

There’s just something about the pageantry that comes with College Football. From traditions like rubbing the rock and running down the hill for Clemson football to the whiteout at Penn State to night games in Death Valley down in Louisiana and much more, there’s just something special about College Football.

The bands, the tailgating, the game day experience and the pure passion for the game set CFB apart. And some of that is going to be missing, in one way or another, this season.

Like I said earlier, even if we do have fans, it’s only going to be a limited number who are able to get in the stadium. There’s no answer as to how tailgating will be effected and that very well may be a state-by-state decision.

We’re not likely to see hundreds- and even thousands- of fans lined up and packed in behind the ESPN College GameDay crew every Saturday morning to kick things off. There have been discussions about bands and what they’ll look like. Student sections are going to be much different than anything we’ve seen before, as well.

The truth of the matter is this: We will all take College Football and enjoy it no matter what form of it we get. But there’s still going to be some things- especially from the pageantry side of the sport- that are squarely missed this year, and there’s really no doubt about it.
