Clemson Football: 5-star DT Payton Page is ready to make decision
5-star Clemson football target ready to make his decision
5-star Clemson football target Payton Page said back in June that he would be announcing his decision in July. Well, July is here.
Page didn’t give a specific date, but the belief is that it won’t be much longer before the talented defensive tackle prospect announces his decision.
Page, a 6-foot-4, 315 pound defensive tackle from Greensboro, NC, is set to choose between Clemson, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Though the Tigers have always been considered the favorite, both UNC and Tennessee have made runs at the defensive tackle and are believed to be in competition as we head down the stretch.
At this point, there are seven crystal ball predictions for Page on his 247 Sports’ player profile. All seven have him choosing Clemson football.
Page has been the top prospect for Clemson football for a while
For the longest time, the Tigers had only offered Page in the 2021 recruiting class. At this point, it’s still believed that he is the only commitable offer.
Page has been the No. 1 priority at the defensive tackle position for the Tigers and he will remain that top target.
There are very few ‘top targets’ that we see Clemson miss out on and it doesn’t look like Page will be one of them, either.
Though there has been some talk of him being connected to Tennessee lately- and there’s always that home town love that comes with growing up in the state of North Carolina- it would seem that the Tigers have the inside track as we head into the final stage of his recruitment.
Page is a big and explosive defensive tackle who has the ability to come in and make an impact immediately. He is reminiscent of Dexter Lawrence in many ways and would absolutely be a beast to pair with guys like Bryan Bresee, Myles Murphy and Demonte Capehart on that future defensive line.
