Clemson football has been busy in the month of June, officially offering scholarships to 25 rising juniors from around the nation.

By now, everyone should be well aware of how rare a Clemson football offer is and there have been just 25 lucky soon-to-be high school juniors that have received them, including two from the state of South Carolina.

Of the roughly 80 offers that Clemson has made to 2021, zero has gone to high school football players in the state of South Carolina. The two current 2022 in-state offers have gone to offensive tackle Collin Sadler from Greenville High School and cornerback Jeadyn Lukus from Mauldin High School.

Sadler has offers from Miami, LSU, UGA, Arizona State and Duke while Lukus holds offers from all the heavy hitters – Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, among others. Both have taken unofficial trips to Clemson for games.

Neither prospect has announced any early leaders but Lukus recently opened up about growing up a Clemson football fan and tailgating at Death Valley. Still, plenty of time before the early signing day in December of 2022, and a lot will change for both prospects and the program over the next 17 months.

A Clemson football offer is no different than a rare gem.

Obviously instate offers from Clemson football these days are like finding a black opal while on a trip to Australia – among the very rare, highly valuable and very coveted.

As far as the 2021 signing class, the Tigers still currently have the second-highest-rated class for 2021, behind Ohio State but they have yet to earn a commission from any of the 25 young men that they have offered for 2022, though that is not concerning.

Running back Phil Mafah was Clemson’s first commit for 2021 and that was not until the end of last August, so even though schools like Ohio State and LSU already have multiple commitments for 2022, Tiger fans should not at all be worried.

Recruiting is an inexact science with an ever-changing landscape. Regardless of what happens over the coming months, the Tigers are poised for a run that college football has never seen and high school players want to be part of something special.
