Could we see a new Clemson football connection in Houston? The Texans have been linked to potentially drafting a Tiger WR to replace DeAndre Hopkins.

Could Clemson football fans see another Tiger connection in Houston? It does seem that could be the case.

Just a month ago, the Houston Texans made a trade that shocked the world. The Texans traded away former Clemson football WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals and took on a bad contract in the form of RB David Johnson.

The Texans then went and added WR Brandin Cooks to their roster, but there are still certainly some question marks when it comes to the position.

As we head into the 2020 NFL Draft, it’s clear that the Texans will address the wide receiver position, it’s just a matter of when. Will Houston elect to use their first pick- in the second-round at No. 40- on a wide receiver?

While it’s unclear where Tee Higgins will fall in the draft, there’s a chance that he does find himself being taken in the second-round. The problem, though, is that he’ll likely be gone before pick No. 8 in the second-round.

So the question remains: Would the Texans be willing to follow the same formula as before when they drafted Deshaun Watson? Would Houston be willing to move up in the draft- potentially the late-portion of the first round to draft Higgins?

It might be the only way to save face at this point.

No one has approved of the decisions made by Bill O’Brien and drafting a wide receiver of Tee Higgins’ caliber might be a decision that could turn the direction of the franchise around.

Next. Tigers no longer have the ACC's top recruiting class. dark

Higgins and Watson were never in the Clemson football program at the same time, as Higgins arrive a year after Watson left, but it’s clear that they would be able to develop chemistry and that Higgins would be the perfect fit as to what Watson is looking for in a receiving target.
