The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class had a huge pick-up Wednesday morning when 4-star CB Jordan Hancock announced his commitment.

The Clemson football coaching staff zeroed in on 4-star CB Jordan Hancock as a prime target, and the talented defensive back announced his commitment Wednesday.

Hancock visited Clemson during the Tigers’ Junior Day event last weekend and reportedly enjoyed his time. Though he was considered an Ohio State lean coming into the weekend, the reports coming out were that Clemson had taken control.

247 Sports‘ Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction for Clemson football to get Hancock following the weekend and, sure enough, the talented corner committed shortly thereafter.

Hancock’s commitment is the first in several recruiting battles that will happen between the Tigers and Buckeyes during the 2021 cycle.

Analysis:

Hancock is currently considered the No. 6 cornerback in the nation and the No. 82 overall player nationally, according to 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

When looking at his film, you can see that Hancock shows those elite traits of being able to cover receivers at a high level, but he can also line up at different spots on the field. He’s not afraid to be physical and is exactly the type of cornerback that a program wants in its secondary.

He has the upside to become an early-round pick before it’s all said and done and I believe you’ll see him trend upwards in recruiting rankings as we get into the summer.

Hancock has an opportunity to be a special player in the defensive backfield for the Clemson football program and this is, without a doubt, a priority pick-up for the Tigers.

Clemson will still look to bring in at least one more conerback and probably 1-2 more players in the secondary during this 2021 cycle. Make sure you check back here on Rubbing the Rock for more updates, analysis and coverage as we progress through the spring.
